Australia and India have intensified trade negotiations to finalize a Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA) that targets critical minerals, clean energy, and strategic investments. Building on the 2022 ECTA, the new deal aims to boost Indian access to Australian resources like lithium and rare earths, while opening Indian markets to Australian capital. Amid global trade disruptions and efforts to reduce dependence on China, the partnership also advances joint research and supply chain resilience—strengthening ties between two key Quad allies.
