UK Secures $10 B Clean-Energy Deal with Sumitomo

In July 2025, the UK and Sumitomo Corporation signed a £7.5 billion deal to fund offshore wind, hydrogen hubs, and grid infrastructure over the next decade. The agreement supports PM Starmer’s Modern Industrial Strategy and aims to boost domestic supply chains, create skilled jobs, and advance energy transition goals. Ensuring local support and environmental responsibility will be critical to securing long-term social license to operate (SLO).
